1 pint blackberries
about 2 cups
1 tbsp coconut palm sugar
1 tbsp coconut palm sugar

1/4 cup orange juice
freshly squeezed
1 cup plain yogurt
preferably Greek
1 tbsp fresh mint leaves

This is a great way to enjoy fresh blackberries when they look amazing at the market. We have modified our version to use coconut palm sugar instead of sugar and honey. Sprinkling the sugar on the berries and letting them rest brings out their flavor; it encourages the juices to come to the surface. We usually prepare this dessert first then let it chill in the fridge while we prepare the rest of our meal. By the time we're done eating, we have a nice cold dessert ready to go!

In a small bowl, toss the blackberries with the sugar. Cover and store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

Whisk the honey and orange juice in a separate bowl.

Add the yogurt and mint and stir until smooth. Cover and store in the fridge.

At serving time, spoon the yogurt sauce onto the plates. Mound the berries in the center and serve.

notes
To prepare this recipe for a baby accustomed to eating solids (about 9 months or older), simply quarter the blackberries before sprinkling them with sugar. This way the baby gets smaller, more manageable bites of blackberries.
