broiled grapefruit suprême for grown ups

ingredients
all
2 large grapefruit
preferably pink
2 tbsp light brown sugar
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tbsp gin

  • gratin dish
to prep and broil

Cut off all the peel and pith from the grapefruit. Cut between the membranes of each segment and remove the fruit. Arrange the segments in a gratin dish.

Move the oven rack 4 inches below the broiler. Preheat the broiler.

Sprinkle the sugar over the grapefruit and dot with butter. Broil for 8-10 minutes or until the edges of the fruit are lightly browned.

If adding gin, sprinkle before serving.

With the drippings from the dish, combine them with some additional gin and warm them in a small saucepan. Pour it out as a warm cocktail that has a similar flavor profile to that of the dessert.
